flexbackup is for you if you have a single or small number of machines, amanda is "too much", and tarring things up by hand isn't nearly enough...
Stable version: 1.2.1 (Oct 10 2003)
Documentation, Links, & Info:
This program can use the "buffer" utility to speed up tape and network I/O:
(recommended, not required). The RPMs are compiled with changes to
allow large file (>2GB) support.
People sometimes have trouble finding afio... (recommended for tapes;
not required - you can
use just about any archive program)
Newer versions can alternately use the "mbuffer" utility instead of "buffer". I would recommend staying with "buffer" unless you want to experiment.
